Robertia was born in Columbus, Ohio on November 2, 1932. She was 90 years old. Bert grew up in Ohio and graduated from Licking Heights High School in Summit Station, Ohio. She met her husband Frank in high school and they were married for 70 years.
In 1954 she set off on her journey as a career Army wife, which took her to many locations including Texas, New Jersey, Ohio, Germany, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Alaska. After retirement, she and Frank spent 10 years traveling the country in an RV. She was an avid Ohio State football fan and spent her Falls attending many home and away games, as well as bowl games. She loved to golf and was often praised for her ability to sink putts. She and Frank finally settled in a retirement community in Pinellas Park, FL.
Bert was definitely one of a kind, as often stated by her husband. She was an amazing and talented seamstress, and made over 80 beautifully designed hand-stitched quilts for her children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She also made children’s clothing, and donated many of these to charitable causes. Her impact on people cannot be overstated.
She lived life to its fullest and her family meant everything to her. She was always there to provide a prayer, give a hug, cry with you or laugh with you. She was the ultimate example of sacrificing her needs to ensure the needs of others came first. Bert’s journey on this earth is complete. She is now at peace and home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
She is predeceased by her husband of 70 years, and one granddaughter. She is survived by her four children, Ed (Pat) of Sanford, NC, Frank (June) of Radford, VA, Susie Kepo’o of Orem, Utah, Carole Cameron of Pinellas Park, FL, and her brother Mike Monaghan of Grove City, OH. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service is pending and will be announced at a later date.
