

Robert Allan Kalach, Sr. 88, of St. Petersburg, passed away on June 6, 2022, after fighting a heroic battle with cancer. Special thanks to the Moffitt doctors, staff, and the Suncoast Hospice Silver Team, who provided comfort and care.
Robert was born in Bristol, CT. His parents were John and Geraldine (Eleto) Kalach. After Robert served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, he went on to study education earning a bachelor's and master's degree at the University of Florida. Robert started his distinguished 34-year career as a public educator. During that time, he taught at Madeira Beach Jr. High School and Pinellas Park Jr. High School. He then continued as Assistant Principal and Principal at Seminole High School before becoming the first Principal of Osceola High School. Finally, Robert retired from the Pinellas County School District as Assistant Superintendent of Student Services.
Robert was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Richard Monte. He is survived by his college sweetheart and loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Kalach; son, Robert Kalach Jr. and wife Vicky; daughter, Julie Kalach; grandchildren, Edward and Kimberly O'Brien, and Aimee and Joshua Boyer; great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Madeline, and Lily, and the anticipated arrival of great grandson baby Boyer. He will be missed by all family members, including cousins, nieces and nephews, his close friends, and his extended family from the 'Happy Hour Group.'
A true patriot, Robert lived by the Ten Commandments and family always came first. He was a member of the American Legion Post 273, Madeira Beach. Robert was an avid outdoorsman loving to fish, hunt, and playing golf and tennis. Likewise memorable was his sense of humor as his laugh could brighten any room.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery pavilion, 1100 Bay {ines Blvd, on July 15, 2022, at 11:00 AM with a Celebration of Life following directly afterward at VFW Post 4256, 12901 Gulf Lane, Madeira Beach, FL, at 12:00PM.
