Still thinking about my dear friend Dick all the time.  Hard to believe it is a year since he’s gone.  Sincere warm thoughts to his family.

Richard and I met 10 yrs ago taking photos of a sunset. He was and has been ever that first time we met a very good friend, always talking about his family. He was so proud of them all always showing me pictures of horse shows, gymnastics and other activities his kids, and grand kids were into. He will definitely be missed. 

I did not have the great pleasure to have spent much time with Dick. Josh is my brother-in-law, and Amanda is my sister. But , I will say that the few hours I spent talking to Dick at Josh and Amanda’s for Micah’s birthday last July were memorable in the most positive way. In that conversation, I could see how Josh became the good man he is, it was obvious to me how my father Doug and Dick became such  good friends. In meeting him at Josh and Amanda’s wedding it did not take long to see how much he loved, and  LIVED his life.  In a short amount of time, I could see how much he was dedicated to his family- how sincerely engaged he was- and how truly entertaining, witty, and incredible he  was as a human being. He had a spark Just a little feisty. Maybe even a little stubborn. My kind of guy! Not having him around to enjoy all life brings will leave a mark. I hope that in celebrating Dick’s life, and all of the fond memories, that it brings some peace.

I first met Dick 8 years ago when his son was dating my daughter Amanda. We shared many of the same interests and soon became great friends. We talked about everything from our jobs before retirement to our lives afterwards. I will miss our nightly chats about Jeopardy. "When you see Alex, say hi for me and tell him that I really enjoyed his show as much as you did!" Rest in peace my friend. You will  be greatly missed by Linda and I.

Dick you will be missed.....You were my neighbor for 6 years. You went out of your way to make friends. You were always looking out for your neighbors. Even though I was a Snow Bird you treated  me like we knew each other for a long time....Miss you my friend  and neighbor. 

Dick and I were high school classmates (I was his date to our junior prom). We reconnected via FB several years ago.  We corresponded continuously, his missives being more like books.  I loved following his exploits and hearing about his family….every email contained a lengthy recount of his family who it was obvious he loved deeply. We talked about politics, the weather and our various health issues., .  We always hoped we would have a reunion some day but it never happened.  I will miss him terribly. He always made me laugh.

There are times in your life that you are lucky enough to come across someone that you just know is a true friend, and a person who you can share your journey through life. Dick was that rare friend who  was always there for me. For the past 15 years or so we shared a bond that I can't put into words. He was a like a big brother, a best friend, and a person that I could ask for advise knowing that he had only my best interests in his heart.  I was blessed to have such a good friend and his light will be forever etched in my soul. My condolences to his family. He was so proud of you and he talked about you with love in his heart. 

I wish here to talk about the weekend events, how the kids did and whether or not I’m tired from the weekend of “sports marathons”.  So MANY thoughts, talks and memories are running though my mind.  I am going to miss our talks about the news and how you worry about us in this crazy world; and me always telling you that we’ll be alright.  It doesn’t feel alright today, it feels like an empty hole in our hearts, you’re gone too soon.  

I was so lucky to be your daughter-in-law or as you always said, your “daughter”; my kids were lucky to have you as a Grandpa.  I’m so lucky to be married to your son, the man who learned what kind of man to be, from you.  I’m honored to be your daughters sister and to be part of your amazing family.  I’m honored to have been part of your life and have been loved by you, a man who never stopped smiling when his family was around.

As I sit, wrapped in your “grandpa” blanket, I find myself reflecting on the last two weeks and how much has changed; I wonder how it’s possible for us to be here, with you in Heaven.  How is it possible that we went from having morning text conversations, weekend ”marathons”, celebrations, get togethers just because, to a week in the hospital and now you’re gone from us.  It’s hard to imagine the world without your deep laugh, the endless smile on your face that lit up a room, your love, support and unending dedication that will always be remembered.  It’s hard to imagine a life without grandpa on the sidelines or other side of the fence at BMX races.  It’s hard to imagine Birthdays and all the other holidays without you and it’s hard to imagine family beach days with everybody, and you not being there.  You had the best eye for sunsets and capturing great moments, I pray we see your love for us, in the world around us.  I love you!!

Oh Dad. What can I say? The best dad a guy could ask for! The best Grandpa in the world! The kids biggest fan! You showed me what being a Dad is all about! The one who made me the Dad I am today.  You are loved by so many people. You are “Dad”, Papa, Grandpa” to more people than you can think of. Your going to be missed more than you could ever imagine! I know you will always be with me, with us, for the rest of our lives. I love you dad! Rest In Peace, you’ve done good!

Dad, 
From the day I was born, you guided me, protected me, celebrated my joys and fought my battles by my side. Thank you for loving me so much, for being the best Dad a girl could have. You have always loved so big and always wanted to give everybody the world, especially Josh and I, and our families. The kids are so blessed to have you as their Grandpa. Your laughter and your smile will be engraved in our hearts forever. This week seems so surreal, I never thought this would happen so soon. Too, too soon Daddy. I will see your smile in every sunset for the rest of my life. Life will never be the same without you. I miss you so much. I feel lost without you, but I will find my way… because you taught me how. I love you Dad!
