Ray Millard, beloved husband, brother, stepfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 73. Born on November 10, 1951, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ray lived a full and adventurous life rooted in love, curiosity, and deep appreciation for the world around him.
Ray was predeceased by his parents but is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Millard; his stepchildren, Brenda Powell and her husband Jeff, and James Troy Cochran; his cherished grandson, Lucas Powell; his brother, Paul Millard and wife Roberta; his sister, Nancy Stikes and husband John; and his nephews, Jason and Christopher Portier. His family was the foundation of his joy, and he held each of them close to his heart.
A proud graduate of Louisiana Tech University, Ray enjoyed a long and respected career as an engineer and general contractor, contributing his skills to Brown & Root, Inc., Millard Brothers Construction Co., and other companies in the construction field.
Ray had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the natural world. He and Peggy were passionate travelers, having visited all seven continents, 38 countries, and most of the United States. His mission was to see as many wild animals as he could, with a special fondness for the kittens of the big cats. His love for fishing, storytelling, and spending time with friends and family made him a constant source of joy and laughter in the lives of those lucky enough to know him.
Ray was truly one of a kind, warm-hearted, curious, and beloved by all who met him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories and stories he leaves behind will continue to inspire and comfort those he loved.
As per Ray’s wishes, there will be no service. His life, filled with love, adventure, and connection, is his enduring legacy.
