Born on July 11, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, Paul built a life rooted in hard work, ingenuity, and a love for both adventure and service. He dedicated over 30 years of his career to General Motors in the Detroit area before retiring. Retirement brought him the best of both worlds—summers spent "up north" in Michigan and winters in Florida. In 2012, he made Florida his permanent home.
Paul shared a loving marriage with his wife, Barbara Marie Kulig, for 48 years. Together, they built a family that brought them immense joy. He was a devoted father to six children: Michael (Marcia) Kulig, Linda (Craig) Cook, Matthew (Kimmy) Kulig, Dianna (Dennis) Burton, Adam Kulig, and Melanie (Aaron) Pobocik. His legacy continued through his 14 grandchildren—Marissa, Kristin, Miranda, Micah, Andie, Alex, Jacob, Zachary, Drew, Devon, Josh, Ava, Madison, and Olivia—as well as seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Emeral and his siblings Sandy and Philip.
Paul, a natural handyman, was always fixing things—whether they needed fixing or not he was constantly re-engineering better ways to do things with his inventive mind. He was always helping neighbors and family build and fix things. Paul found joy in nurturing plants and creating beautiful outdoor spaces. He also loved traveling the Caribbean on cruises, embracing the relaxation and exploration they offered. His generosity extended beyond his own projects; he dedicated time to volunteering at the Food Pantry in Wimauma, giving back to his community with kindness and commitment. Barb and Paul loved country music. Many times, you could find them on the dance floor dancing the night away either at the Elks, The Moose or just their own living room. The grandchildren will never forget the memories of “roll-up pancakes”, singing Christmas Carols before opening presents, bonfires, smores, camping trips, kayaking, boat rides, the woodworking projects they asked him to make, and fishing. “Is this a keeper Grandpa?” they would ask even when catching the smallest fish.
Paul’s memory will live on through those who knew him and the many lives he touched with his generosity and resourcefulness. May his legacy bring comfort to all who remember him. We love you Husband, Dad, Pops, Grandpa, Friend.
