Michael Sherman Walsh II

Michael S. Walsh Jr, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away with family by his side on March 2, 2023 at the age of 80. Mike was born in St. Louis, Mo in 1942 to Michael and Catherine (Chinn) Walsh. Mike spent his childhood growing up between St. Louis, Mo and Clearwater, FL. He graduated from Clearwater High school in 1960. He obtained an Engineering Degree from Duke University and a Master’s Degree in Business from the Wharton School of Business. He later obtained a PHD in Science from MIT. Mike later settled in Boulder and Canon City, Co before retiring to Florida.

Throughout his professional life, Mike, was CEO of several hi-tech companies which performed Vapor Deposition coatings and he held several patents in the emerging science of Vapor Deposition. These patents positively impacted technology and the environment. Mike was known for his genius IQ, especially in the math and sciences. He was a faithful Catholic who generously supported his churches.

Mike is survived by his former wife, Joan Hauser, and their two sons, Michael (Deanna) Walsh and Patrick (Miki) Walsh; grandchildren: Skye, Amanda, Tayo, and Riley Jo. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Rhianna Walsh.

Mike was an avid runner who exceeded 50K miles over his lifetime. He enjoyed music, golf, skiing, baseball, and spoiling his grandkids. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, church, and his contributions to the world of science. He will be greatly missed and loved forever.
