Michael Henry Murphy

Michael "Mick" Henry Murphy, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 1 in Brooksville, FL at the age of 71. Michael is survived by his wife, Donna, several cousins and his loving dogs, Daphne and Crickie. He is preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Reeve, and father, Michael Henry Murphy, Sr.

Michael was born on July 16, 1947 in Newport, RI. He served in the army before receiving his Associate degree in Business Administration. He became the chief tax appraiser for the City of Newport and later made two Atlantic crossings by sailboat. Michael was an accomplished wood worker and a skilled marksman. He lived in Daytona Beach before moving to Ormond by the Sea where he met and married Donna. The couple moved to Gainesville before finally settling in Homosassa. Michael was also a dog lover and known to be a kind man to friends and acquaintances. A Celebration of Life will be held for Michael on Friday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Walden Woods South club house in Homosassa.
