Michael G. Carlisle

Michael “Mike” Carlisle passed away on January 15, 2019 at the age of 75 at the Hospice Unit of the VA Medical Facility in Bay Pines, FL after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mike was born in Detroit, MI on September 2, 1943 to Gordon Carlisle and Beatrice Laidlaw Carlisle and they preceded him in death.

While growing up Mike was very interested in hunting and fishing. After high school, Mike enlisted in the US Army and served three years in Germany. Following that, his love of the sea took over and he joined the US Merchant Marine and sailed the globe. He inherited his interest in the sea from his paternal grandfather who was a Great Lakes Ship Captain. Mike retired several years ago as an officer and settled in Pinellas Park, FL.

Mike is survived by his sister, Mary Carlisle Pacello and was a loving uncle to niece, Maria Zandri (Michael); and nephews, Vincent E. Pacello (Cheryl) and Michael J. Pacello (Jessica). He also has four great nieces, Christina Zandri, Kyleigh Pacello, Alicia Pacello, and Lucia Pacello; and two great nephews, Matthew Zandri and Desmond Pacello.

Mike’s remains will be cremated and scatter over the Gulf of Mexico.
