Marjorie Davis Nelms Ward, age 91, of Saint Petersburg, Florida passed away on Saturday April 21, 2018. Marge, as she was affectionately known by many, was born October 23, 1926 in Williamson, West Virginia. Loyal to her roots she always had a smile when she heard John Denver's song "Country Roads, Take Me Home".
She previously lived in North Carolina, however, in the late 60s made her move to Florida, living in the Fort Lauderdale area. A very caring and compassionate person, Marge worked at North Broward District hospital as a nurse for over 25 years. After retirement she moved to St. Petersburg to be closer to family where she continued her passion of sewing, gardening and collecting depression glassware.
Marjorie leaves behind a son and two daughters: Robert (Mary) Ward of Portland, OR., Karen (Earnie) Hoover of Zebulon, NC. and Robin (John) McElroy of St Petersburg, Fl. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 14 great-grand Children, five great-great grandchildren.
Marjorie's life was enriched over the last five years by both the residents and staff of Bon Secours Place who loved her for her fun loving spirit and smile. The family would like to give special recognition to Sister Dolores, caregivers Bertha, Ruby and Kim and the Lavender Team of Suncoast Hospice.
A celebration of her life will be held at Bon Secours Place, St. Petersburg, Fl. on May 28, 2018 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Marjorie be honored by a tribute gift to Bon Secours Place in St Petersburg or Suncoast Hospice Foundation.org.
