Marilyn Mobley Burbank, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend left this life to begin a new life with her Heavenly Father on September 7th, 2017 after losing her battle with cancer. Marilyn was born in Oklahoma City to R.M. and Edna Maye Mobley. When she was 7 the family moved to the then boomtown of Kilgore Texas where she grew up and graduated from Kilgore High School. After High School she attended Baylor University where she met the love of her life and best friend Charles R. Burbank. They were married the day after graduation and made their home in Waco for 20 years where they had 2 children, Chuck Burbank and Tracey Lewis.
Marilyn was a professional educator for over 33 years in multiple school districts. Her love of children and literature manifested itself in all her positions, but especially in her last position as an elementary school librarian.
Her zest for life and adventure was obvious throughout her life from her parties and social events to her travels with Charles in the motorhome, International cruises and learning to fly including obtaining a pilot’s license as a grandmother. Always on the go, she was never one to sit still which of course occasionally led to mischief or getting into “situations”. She enjoyed excitement and if there was none around she would make her own.
Active in the Church and community she served in numerous capacities. She also belonged to and participated in numerous education organizations. She was always ready to lend a hand to a friend or a person in need. She will be greatly missed in this life.
She leaves behind 2 children and their spouses – Son- Chuck Burbank and wife Sharee Burbank, Daughter – Tracey Lewis and husband Morris Lewis, 4 grandsons – Jonathan Burbank and wife Holly Burbank, Benjamin Burbank and wife Mariana Cars-Burbank, Chris Lewis and Connor Lewis, 1 great granddaughter – Anabella Victoria Burbank, a sister – Linda Michelle Forsythe and numerous friends.
A celebration of life service will be held in the future at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers she asked that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Midland Library – Midland, Texas, Suncoast Hospice (Pinellas County Florida) or SPCA.
