Born on August 16, 1948 in Lommel, Belgium. Lydi carried her Belgian roots with her throughout her life. No matter where life took her, family, friendship, and the connections she made with others remained at the heart of who she was.
Lydi was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, cherished sister and aunt, and a wonderful friend to so many. She loved her family deeply and treasured her friendships. The people she loved were truly the center of her world.
Lydi also loved music. Music brought her happiness, and in true Lydi fashion, she didn’t always just listen to it, she became part of it.
One memory captures her joyful personality perfectly. While enjoying an afternoon at a restaurant with a live band playing Lydi would playfully pretend she was one of their backup singers. She wasn't worried about who was watching. She was simply having fun, enjoying the music and making everyone around her smile.
That was Lydi.
She had a beautiful spirit and knew how to enjoy life. She loved being surrounded by family and friends. sharing laughter, listening to music and creating the kind of memories that become even more precious with time.
Lydi faced her illness with tremendous strength and courage, surrounded by the family who Ioved her so deeply. Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for every year, every laugh, every song, every story, and every beautiful memory we were blessed to share with her.
Lydi is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis R. Stasuk; her daughter, Jane A. Stasuk, and Jane's husband, Frank Soto; her son, Dennis W. Stasuk, and his wife, Sarah Stasuk: and her treasured grandchildren, Garrett Stasuk and Reese Stasuk.
Lydi was preceded in death by beloved family members in Belgium, whose memories remained a part of her lite and her heart.
She is also survived by her extended family in Belgium and many dear friends, both near and far, whose lives were touched by her love and friendship.
Those who knew Lydi will remember her laughter, her strength, her love of music, her sense of fun, and the happiness she brought into a room. Her family will remember countless little moments—the ones that seemed ordinary at the time but now mean everything.
Her life will not be measured simply by the number of years she lived, but by the love she gave, the friendships she treasured, the laughter she created, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
We will carry Lydi with us always—in our family gatherings. in our stories in our laughter. and whenever hear a song that makes us want to sing along,
And somewhere, when a live band starts playing, we will smile and think of Lydi singing backup.
Until we meet again, Mom.
We love you more than words can ever say.
