Raised in south Tampa she spent summers in Georgia with relatives creating lifelong bonds. Her love for movies began with Saturday matinees at Tampa Theater. She graduated Plant High School, continued her education at University of Tampa with a BA in 1954, helped form The Decade of the Fifties annual reunion for past 26 years. She raised two boys on her own by doing medical transcription and typing for 40 years, paying off her home and helping others, taught her grandson to type and mentored many people with her great knowledge and spirituality. She attended The Dome Unitarian Universalist Church, officiated at times and a frequent guest speaker.
An accomplished pianist with good singing voice, she loved music, was very fond of Celtic Thunder and Keith Harkin and attended many of their concerts. Due to her love for their music she became engrossed in learning about her Scotch-Irish ancestry and attacked it as she did many things, by reading everything she could get her hands on to gain knowledge. An avid reader who loved poetry she could recite her favorites. She authored a collection of her own poetry, two published novels, and an unfinished autobiography. A history buff, she completed both daily crosswords, could participate in any subject of conversation, captivating audiences with her eloquent speech.
