Born May 8, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, John attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through college, which instilled the core values (the “Four Fs”) that served as the foundation of his life: faith, family, friends and food. He discovered the love of cooking from his mother and grandmother and, throughout his life, loved cooking for family and friends.
Upon graduating from St. John’s University, John enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard and was honorably discharged after six years of service. An accountant by training, he began his career in the corporate sector working on Wall Street for the big accounting firms and, upon moving to Florida in the early 1980s, transitioned to the non-profit sector serving as CFO for several large social service providers in the Tampa Bay area.
In his retirement, when not cooking, John loved traveling, especially exploring Italy and other parts of Europe and cruising the Caribbean with his beloved wife, Toni, to whom he was married for nearly 57 wonderful years.
John is survived by his wife, Antoinette (Toni); brother, Bill (Pat); and children Dayna Cloidt (Michael), John (Pamela) and Kim Miller (Aaron). He was a loving “Pop-Pop” to eight grandchildren: Mila Cloidt; Mary Claire, Rocco and Kate Ricco; and Ethan, Jacob, Elijah and Sadie Miller. His eyes lit up when he spoke of his family, and their hearts are full of treasured memories.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 4, 2025 at St. Michael the Archangel Church,
2281 State Rd 580 (Main Street), Dunedin FL.
Eternal rest grant unto John, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
