Joan Barbara Van Enige

Joan Barbara Van Enige passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the Accent Care Hospice Center in Dunedin, Florida. She had been a resident at St. Mark Village Senior Living Facility in Palm Harbor for the past 8 years. Prior to her residence at St. Mark Village she resided in Toms River, NJ and Bayville NJ.

Joan was born in Jersey City, New Jersey to Joseph and Anne Kuhlken Strube on April 7, 1930. She married Richard Van Enige of Lyndhurst, NJ on June 3, 1951 in Palisades Park, NJ.

Joan was a graduate of Leonia High School, Leonia, NJ. After graduation she worked as a secretary until she married Richard. She then spent her time taking care of home, family and children. In her free time she enjoyed painting, sailing with Richard, and gardening. These paintings and pieces of art grace the homes of her family. Eventually she found time to return to the work force where she worked at Harris's Department Store in Toms River.

She is survived by her three children, Karen LeeVan Enige Walter, Lauren JoanVan Enige Janowicz and Richard Joseph Van Enige and her eight grandchildren, Jason, Keith and Ellen, of Louis and Karen Walter, Michael, Beth, Douglas and Amy of Robert and Lauren Janowicz and Michelle of Richard and Susan Van Enige. Her survivors include sixteen great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held privately among family.
