Proverbs 31:28 (NKJV) Her children rise up and call her blessed
Janice was the third oldest of nine children, and first daughter born to Tom and Opal Lynch in Pikeville, KY. With Mom’s passing, Don, Vinetta and Kathy are the remaining Lynch children. Janice traded the creeks and hollers deep in the KY mountains for the Shenandoah Valley, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where she raised her four children, worked and finally retired from the University of Virginia medical center. Janice is preceded in death by her husbands, Okie Gannon, Emory Clatterbaugh and Jackie Dobbins and her son, Garreth Gannon. Though raised in a Christian family, it wasn’t until the early 1990’s that she met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, under the ministry of Whitney Critzer at Church of the Blue Ridge in Nelson County, VA. CBR was truly her church home and her deep and abiding love for Jesus led her to be baptized on September 3 1995, along with her youngest daughter, Carol, in her oldest daughter, Diane’s pool, surrounded by family and friends, in Waynesboro, VA. Janice’s life journey led her to join her daughter, Teresa, in Ft Myers, Florida early in the 2000’s, and finally to Tarpon Springs in 2019, where she lived independently, nearby to Sam and Diane for the rest of her life. Janice was blessed with four children, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren to whom she left a legacy of playful joking, unconditional love for each other and for good food, and a fiery temper that was not to be trifled with! She was an amazing cook, pastry chef and baker and her most cherished gift is the copies of her recipes that has been shared with all of us. She loved fried chicken, sunbathing, scary movies and rainy days! And if you ever had a conversation with Janice, you left knowing you were loved, by her, by God and your heart was duly blessed! Her greatest pride and joy was her family and her deepest love was for Jesus. What a blessing that assurance is to us now!
