INGLES, James (Jim) R., 78, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2022 at 3:10pm. Jim was a fighter, surviving pancreatic cancer for almost three years, and enjoying life right up to the end. A musical prodigy as a child, Jim was a gifted percussionist who earned regular scholarships to Interlochen Center for the Arts, where he had the honor of performing on the White House lawn for John F. Kennedy in 1962. He later attended the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois for music, where he earned third chair for percussion in the Orchestra of America and toured South America at the age of 19. As an adult, he had a successful career as a drummer and jazz musician. He also loved photography and sailing, learning to sail at middle age. He passed his love of the arts and sciences down to his children. Jim is survived by his partner Judy Miller, his three daughters Melody Stankewitz, Shanon M. Ingles and Laura Vasquez, his grandchildren Ashley, Alexis (deceased), Keifer, Andrew, and Ava, his great grandchildren Garak, Sparrow and Lyra Belle, his son-in-laws Dan Stankewitz and Justin Vasquez, and all of his wonderful friends. He will be missed.
