Harriet was a hardworking and dedicated woman who retired at the age of 60. After retiring, she moved from New Jersey to Florida, where she lived for the rest of her life beneath the warmth and sunshine she loved. Growing up, she especially enjoyed visiting her uncle’s farm, where she loved seeing the horses and other animals and dreamed of one day having a farm of her own. Ultimately, her family became the center of her life.
As a young woman, Harriet loved speed skating. Through speed skating, she met her high school sweetheart, Donald George Davis Sr. Their love grew into a marriage that lasted 67 years. Together, they built a family and raised five children: Donald George Davis Jr. (Gina), Terry Davis, Ruth Davis-Sumaya (Rey), John Davis (Ninxi), and Glen Davis (Chrissy).
Harriet was a loving and devoted mother whose family meant everything to her. She will be remembered for her warmth, strength, dedication, and the love she gave so generously to those around her.
Harriet was predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, Donald George Davis Sr.; her sons, Donald George Davis Jr. and John Davis; her grandson, Bryan Davis; and her great- granddaughter, Essie.
She is survived by her children, Terry Davis, Ruth Davis-Sumaya (Rey), and Glen Davis (Chrissy); her twin sister, Florence Winters; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her extended family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
A Gentle Mother’s Love
She carried love in gentle ways,
In every smile and warm embrace;
She gave her heart so freely,
And filled her home with love and grace.
She worked with care through all her years,
A steady heart, both strong and true;
Then found the Florida sunshine
And made a peaceful life anew.
She loved the farm, the fields, the horses,
The simple beauty of the day;
And through the joy of speed and motion,
She found true love along the way.
With Donald, her beloved husband,
She shared a lifetime, hand in hand;
Through sixty-seven years together,
They built a home where love could stand.
Her children were her treasured blessings,
Her greatest joy, her heart’s delight;
And grandchildren and great-grandchildren
Filled her world with love and light.
Though Donald, Donnie, John, Bryan, and Essie
Have gone where peaceful loved ones rest,
Their memories remain forever
Within the hearts that knew them best.
She leaves Terry, Ruth, and Glen,
Her love lives on in all they do;
And Florence, her beloved twin,
Who shared life’s precious journey too.
Now may she rest in gentle sunshine,
Wrapped in peace and heaven’s care;
For all the love she gave so freely
Will live forever everywhere.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
