Guy C. Futral Jr.

Guy Clemmons Futral was born on March 23, 1936 in Fort Smith, AR, the eldest son of Guy and Mary Sue Futral. He is survived by his 3 brothers, Jim, Tom, and Randy Futral. His brother Larry Futral preceded him in death.

On June 25, 1957 he wed Nancy Wright and they were married until her death on February 16, 2024. Guy and Nancy met at Mississippi College where he received his Bachelor of Arts (History) degree. After their marriage he attended divinity school at Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. He earned his Doctor of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978.

While pursuing his degrees he began his life of ministry in the Southern Baptist Church. Over the years he pastored churches in Mississippi, North Carolina, Louisiana (Covington) and Kentucky (Mayfield). From 1984 until his retirement in 2004 he served on the staff of the Kentucky Baptist Convention in Louisville, KY.

After his retirement Guy continued to bless the lives of many with his greatest pastoral gift, empathy. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and, after moving to Brandon, FL, he and Nancy became active volunteers with Meals on Wheels.

Guy is survived by his four daughters and their families: Rebecca Futral-Anderson and her partner, Greg Tita (Largo, FL); Cynthia Futral-Eason and her husband Larry Eason and their daughters Sarah, Lily and Camille (Brandon, FL); Valerie Futral (Tampa, FL); and Elizabeth Futral and her husband Steven White (Copper Hill, VA and Baltimore, MD). Guy leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Eli, Riley and Aurora, children of Sarah Eason. So, too, does he take leave of his beloved dog, Maddie.

A service of remembrance will be held on May 31, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church, 110 S. Fort Harrison Avenue, Clearwater, FL.
