Gloria Jean Spina

Gloria is in Heaven surrounded by her grandparents Joseph and Maria Spina, and Santo and Anna Pernicone, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gloria is survived by her parents Joseph and Rose Spina, Aunt Lucille Holder, sisters Linda Balzarini, Jane (Ralph) Toedter, and Teresa (Daniel) Devlin. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews: Eric, Heidi, Kevin, Kimberly, Heather, Shannon, Keith, Daniel and Kristina, as well as great nieces and nephews Victoria, Stephanie, Mia, Renee, Alex, Casey, Emma, Ryan, Amber, Addyson, Hayden and Emmett.

Gloria was born January 13, 1958, and grew up in Franklin Park, Illinois where she graduated from East Leyden High School.

In the mid-1980s, Gloria moved to Wisconsin to pursue her passion for golf. A few years later, she moved to Tucson, Arizona to further her golf career. Gloria then moved back to Illinois where she became a Golf Club Professional at Ivanhoe Golf Club in Mundelein. In the mid-1990s, Gloria changed her career path and became an air freight dispatcher. In 2001, Gloria made the move back to Arizona, where she worked for the United States Post Office. In 2013 Gloria relocated to Florida where she continued to work for the Post Office until she retired in 2017. In 2019, Gloria purchased her dream home just four houses down from her sister Teresa.

Gloria had many other passions outside of golf. She loved her dogs and spoiled them rotten like they were her own children. Gloria was a diehard Chicago Blackhawks fan, and also loved the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins. Gloria loved to garden and spend her time walking on the beach while soaking up the Florida sunshine with her sister Teresa. Gloria’s other hobbies included shooting pool and playing bocce ball. As well, she joined the Timber Pines Pottery Club where she created her own pottery and became the Treasurer of the club.

A private celebration of life will be held on January 8, 2022 from 1pm-4pm at the Timber Pines Lodge in Spring Hill, Florida where she resided.
