George Charles Rogers, 82, of Lutz, Florida went home to his Lord on April 30th, 2025. He fought a protracted and difficult health battle for many years, knowing the ultimate outcome, but never complaining. The remarkable courage and dignity with which he bore his struggle was a shining example to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His earthly journey came to an end at the home that he shared with his wife, Annette, who had walked every step with him. At the time appointed unto him, he was entrusted into the loving care of his Savior, surrounded by family.
George was born on November 21, 1942, in Allentown, PA, to George Rogers II and Roberta Blanche Mason. Following the passing of his stepfather, his mother and family moved to Clearwater, FL. As a young man, he enjoyed the beach and was an avid and proficient water skier. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1960, and went on to the University of South Florida, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He wed his first love, Carol Sanders, on November 16, 1970, and they remained married until her sudden and untimely passing in 2004. George and Carol had two sons, Robert and Jamison. After Carol’s passing, George got that rarest of second chances at true love, marrying Annette Salter on May 21, 2016. The couple enjoyed 18 years together, serving in their church, where George was an usher, greeter and acolyte, along with occasionally joining Annette in the choir. They continued to serve until it became physically impossible to do so.
George is survived by his wife Annette, his eldest son Robert Charles Rogers and wife Allyson Rogers, his youngest son Jamison Eugene Rogers and wife Michelle Marie Rogers, and granddaughters Elyse (20), Viviene (17), Josephine (13), and Madelyn (12) Rogers.
A celebration of life will be held at the Brooksville Methodist Church on May 24, 2025, at 1pm. A special thank you to Brooksville Methodist Church for providing a church home for so many loving years.
