Francis Richard Coughlin

Francis Richard Coughlin, passed into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, in the late evening of April 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, daughter Sherry (Coughlin) Arthur, granddaughter Chanel Motley, and son-in-law Carl Arthur, at Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville, Florida.

Francis was born and raised in Charlestown, Massachusetts, where he proudly called himself a Townie, and met the love of his life, Kay. Together they adopted their son, Michael and daughter, Sherry.

Frank served in the U.S. Airforce and retired as a U.S. Postal Worker. He enjoyed family vacations, and many celebrations with family and friends. Alongside his wife, Frank played in a bowling league run by his brother for several years. Frank was a lover of animals and had loved several dogs and cats throughout his lifetime. He was an avid sports fan particularly of Boston College football, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots.

At the end of 1991, Frank and his wife packed up and moved to Spring Hill, Florida and began volunteering for Daystar Hope Center on US 19, where they met beloved friends who would become like family. He also enjoyed living close to his sister Eileen and her husband Jim.

Family was so special to Frank. He is survived by his son Michael Coughlin, daughter Sherry (Coughlin) Arthur, granddaughter Chanel Motley, grandson Anthony Coughlin, son-in-law Carl Arthur, sisters Eileen Welch, Rita Byrd, and Patricia Jellison, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Catherine (Kay) Coughlin, parents Francis Richard Coughlin and Margaret Irene (Hannaford) Coughlin, sisters Dolly McCarthy and Phyllis Brown, and brother Robert Coughlin.

There will be a memorial service at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida to be announced later.
