Emily L. Fernandez

Emily L. Fernandez, (Ella and Nena) died peacefully on February 8, 2018, at Citrus Memorial Hospital, just three days prior to her 93rd birthday. She is survived by her son Henry (Linda) and daughter Glenda Irizarry (Xavier), and three granddaughters: Jennifer Carideo (Mike), Melissa Bunch (Steve), and Vanessa Baker (Rob). She had five great grandchildren who she loved dearly: Mac and Mallory Carideo and Bo, Catalina, and Penelope Bunch.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life Henry (Pete).

Emily was born February 11, 1925 to Sturnino and Maria Lopez. She is the youngest living of eight children: Tony, Virginia, Jerry, Manuel, Felix, Armando, and Morris. She grew up in Ybor City, Florida. Emily lived a happy and full life surrounded by her loving family. She dedicated many years to public service, first with Hillsborough County Public Schools and retiring from the Hillsborough County Health Department.

Graveside services will be held on March 3, 2018, at 11:30 a.m., at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association in her memory would be welcome.
