Dorothy B. Womble. 104, passed away on 12-31-2023, in Tampa. Dottie was born in 1919, in Westminster, Maryland, the only child of David Paul Brown and Anna Blanche Stoner Brown. She graduated from Western Maryland College where she was a Phi Alpha Mu in 1940. She first worked in the Washington, D.C. area. On a trip to Florida she got "sand in her shoes" and soon returned and settled in Tampa in 1946. She spent 35 plus years in education mostly with the Hillsborough County Public School System. She was a tireless volunteer for many causes and venues, generous with her time and dollars. She was proud to be presented with an Honorary Lifetime membership in the Presbyterian U.S.A Women's group, and to have a scholarship named for her. She loved to travel and for fifty years she toured the world. She was a cat person. She wished to be remembered with a smile as a hard worker and fun to be with person who loved God and her "girls". She is survived by her daughter, her "adopted" daughter, her granddaughter and great granddaughter Many thanks to the Burgundy team at Lifepath Hospice and the care givers and staff of Home Helpers especially Keyona and Cathy for their love and wonderful care. Per her request, her ashes will be spread in the Gulf of Mexico.
