

Born December 4, 1935, in Bonsall, California to Phillip Morris and Laura Louise (Houseman) Payne. Married to Stanley Allen Reese, the love of her life for nearly 70 years, on February 12, 1955.
Dearly loved by her family and friends, Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and optimistic outlook on life. For many years, Dorothy worked as the Assistant Head Cashier at the University of Michigan, and in the Chemical Engineering department. Her love of children gave her the idea that she’d like to run a children’s daycare in her home, which she also did for many years.
Among her many skills, Dorothy was a great seamstress and cake decorator, having created some striking wedding cakes. Dorothy had a passion for gardening and flowers, being especially proud of her magnificent orchids. And let us not forget, Dorothy enjoyed cooking, thus, her cookbook- “Dot’s Secret Little What to do with Leftover Turkey” Cookbook.
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her husband, Stan Reese, Daughter, Linda (Scott) Grischy, Son, Jeffery (Tina) Reese, Daughter, Cheryl Rogers, Grandchildren, Dereck Grischy, Dustan (Dawn) Grischy, Heather (Aaron) Barber, Holly (Drew) Schmidt, Travis Reese, Joshua Reese, Quinn Reed, Gabrielle Rogers. Great grandchildren, Sommer Rosenthal, Sydney Schmidt, Juniper Schmidt. Many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, dear friends, her forever friend Jan Cooch, her little red poodle, Rowdy, and sweet kitty, Misty.
She is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, her sister, Patricia Lawry, cousins Barbara and Ollie Houseman, and several sisters and brothers-in-law.
Dorothy Reese’s Memorial Service will be held at 3pm (2:45 arrival) on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard North, St. Petersburg, Fl 33708.
