May 29 1939 - April 29 2025
It is with deep sadness that the family of Christopher J Splint announces his passing in New Port Richey, Florida on April 29 2025 after a brief period of declining health. Chris had a deep aversion to Maine winters and relocated from Maine to Florida twenty years ago. He spent the summer months in Falmouth and in Freeport Maine, enjoying the company of friends and family. Chris was born in Laren, Holland on May 29 1939, to Peter and Maria Splint - Puyk. He was the second child in a family of six that included brothers; Paul, Theo, Rudi, and sisters Luci, and Gret. Chris fell in love with sailing at a young age and it remained his lifelong passion. He also loved traveling, and lived for a time in Spain before immigrating to the United States in 1968 under the sponsorship of his cousin Kees Jongerden of Falmouth Maine. The first major purchase Chris made in the U.S. was a lovely thirty foot Graves Constellation sailboat he named “Sea Wench” . He raced the boat occasionally on Casco Bay but it was mainly the family fun boat.
Chris was employed many years by Picker X-ray before forming his own business; Affiliated X-ray Corp. Upon retiring he sold his business and went south seeking warmer weather. He had a wonderful following of friends in his new found Florida home where he loved to frequent his local hang outs on the water,
Chris is survived by his ex-wife and forever friend Johanna Frissell, his son Tristan Splint, and beloved grandchildren Shayne, Austin, and Julia Splint. Chris was pre-deceased by his beloved oldest son Aaron Christopher Splint in May 2022.
