Born in Chicago and raised in Pinellas County, Chris grew into a steady, hardworking man whose character was shaped by family, curiosity, and craftsmanship. He spent most of his career as a machinist, a trade he practiced with skill, pride, and dedication.
Chris found joy in simple, meaningful pursuits. He loved wood carving, transforming raw pieces into something beautiful with patience and care. He enjoyed golf and the peace of being outdoors. And he carried a lifelong fascination with space—always eager to learn, explore, and marvel at the universe beyond our own world.
Chris leaves behind two daughters: Shelly Sykes (husband Wayne) and Sherry Merriam (significant other Jim). He was a proud grandfather to Sara and Hunter (children of Shelly), and Alyssa and Cassie (children of Sherry). He is also survived by his brothers Dean (wife Patty) and Terry (wife Pat), and Peggy, his late brother Doug’s wife, who shared a lifetime of memories with him.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, his craftsmanship, his curiosity, and the love he carried for his family. His legacy lives on in the hands he guided, the stories he shared, and the hearts he touched.
