"It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we remember the life of Christen Renee Smith, who left us all too soon on September 16, 2026. Born on July 30, 1989, in the sunny embrace of Galveston, Texas, Christen graced our world with her vibrant spirit and unwavering love for those around her.
Christen was the cherished daughter of Catherine D Smith-Aten and Stuart Stephen Smith, who, along with her beloved five-year-old daughter, Nevaeh Isabella Smith, survive her. She is also deeply missed by her siblings, Stephen J Smith, Gracie Smith, Jackson Smith, stepmom, Catherine Z. Smith and her devoted grandmother, Sophia Wiser Smith of Galveston, Texas. Her extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins also mourn the loss of a bright light in their lives.
Preceding her in death are her maternal grandmother, Joan Barbara Williams Perry of Wesley Chapel, FL, and her paternal grandfather, Daniel Joseph Smith of Galveston, TX, who now welcome her into their eternal embrace.
A proud graduate of Ball High School in Galveston, Tx in 2012. Christen found her calling in the bustling world of hospitality as a crew trainer and cashier at a popular local restaurant in Tampa, FL. Her colleagues and friends at work, especially her manager Stephanie, who was like a big sister to her, became a second family.
Christens' strong personality, remarkable wit, and infectious love for life shone brightly. Her faith was nurtured during her childhood at Fowler Ave Baptist Church in Temple Terrace, FL, where she cherished the community and joy of vacation bible school. Christens' hobbies reflected her zest for life, from her love of dancing and shopping to the tender care she lavished on her daughter, Nevaeh, the gem of her eye.
Christens' journey was marked by her resilience and an eagerness to explore all that life had to offer. Though taken from us by a tragic surgical complication she eventually succumbed to, her spirit endures in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness and vivacity. In memory of Christen, the family invites those wishing to honor her legacy to contribute to a charity of their choice. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life and the love she brought to those around her.
The family extends a special message of gratitude to all who knew and loved Christen: Thank you for being her friend, sister, counselor, advocate, but most of all, for caring and just being there for her in her special time of need. Your love and support meant the world to her and continue to comfort us in this time of loss.
She now rests in the comfort and peaceful arms of Jesus, as she is forever etched and will continue to live in our hearts!"
