Catherine Power Teti (Mary Catherine Power) age 77, of Tampa, FL passed away on Tuesday, 10/17/23. She is survived by her husband John Teti, son Jay Teti, daughter Sarah Bray, granddaughters Shelby Bray, Stephanie Ambrosino, Brooke Teti, grandson Jonathan Bray and three great-grandchildren. Catherine was born in Charleston, WV to F. Ray Power and Mary Josephine Crozier. After high School (CHS) she attended Shepherd College and WVU, graduating in 1966 with a BA degree in political science. She married John in August 1966 and became a social worker in Kingwood, WV. She moved to Tokyo, Japan to be with her husband in February 1968 and their son was born in Japan. She returned to Charleston, WV where their daughter was born in 1970. In July 1971 they moved to King George, VA, where she became the Editor of the local weekly newspaper. She enrolled in University of Richmond Law School in 1976, graduating in 1978 and passing the Virginia bar. She moved to Florida in 1979, passed the Florida bar. In 1980 she began working for Hillsborough County Child Enforcement, and the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office, before retiring in 2004.
In her personal life, she was active in the League of Women Voters, Friends of Jan K. Platt Regional Library, The Hillsborough County Teen Court Diversion Program. Her passions were Reading, Duplicate Bridge and Travel, visiting six continents. But for Cathy, her favorite was being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She is remembered for her loving grace, fierce tenacity and whimsical sense of humor.
