Born to Loyal and Margaret Flint in Lansing, Michigan on March 13, 1935, Kay received her degree in dental hygiene, her life-long occupation, at the University of Michigan where she met her husband Bernard Jacks. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kay was a passionate animal lover, orchid enthusiast, and talented porcelain painter. She was an active member of the community, including the American Federation of Porcelain Painters and the International Porcelain Art and Teachers, Inc. A respected and pioneering leader, she taught classes and offered tutorials, most notably Florida and the Florida Keys, where she ran a school for novice painters. Kay traveled the world, rescued animals in need and grew scores of orchids. She lived her life with love, tender patience, generosity and laughter.
Her life is best personified by what her passions required: the careful attention to grow delicate flowers and to paint minute details yielding flourishing and long-lasting beauty now reflected in her cherished memory. Her legacy is now continued by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by brother Thomas Flint. She is survived by husband Bernard, sons Michael, Christopher, Paul and their spouses, a sister-in-law, nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A mass and memorial to celebrate her life will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Springhill, Florida after which she will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the National Humane Society or the National Cancer Institute in her name.
May her gentle soul find peace through the love and eternal grace of God.
