
She was born on April 15, 1934, to Holger and Else Petersen and was married to William Smith. They truly enjoyed their time with family and friends that made their life special and everlasting. Carla and Bill lived in Cliffwood Beach, NJ prior to retirement in Florida near their cherished daughter Carla Burton.
She spent her working years in the school bus transportation field where she worked her way up from a bus driver to a supervisor. Some of her best memories were driving the Matawan High athletic teams and band members to events. She greeted everyone with enthusiasm and grace that projected her caring spirit. Later in Florida she enjoyed volunteering with the Islettes in Treasure Island to help support the local community.
Carla is survived by daughter, Carla Anne Burton of Treasure Island, Florida, her son William Smith of Wilmington, Delaware, and her three grandchildren, Kendal, Danica, and Jayme. Carla was also fortunate to be survived by her three great grandchildren whom she took special joy.
She was preceded in death by her father, Holger, her mother, Else, and her beloved husband.
Cremation will take place in private. Celebration of her life will be planned in the future.
