Barbara and her husband, Albert E. Smith fell in love and married in 1943. They lived in Long Island where he was stationed in the Coast Guard, then they moved to Florida to raise their three children. She was actively involved in her community volunteering, tutoring, and teaching bridge classes. She was a teacher, a salesperson, and a devout mother until they retired to life on a boat, in an RV, and on the shores of Lake Seminole. Barbara loved her family, beaches, singing and playing piano, playing bridge, sailing, writing, water skiing (until she was 77) and ballroom dancing. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and the everyday joys of things “that are so cool.” She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Barbara was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Schultz, husband Albert E. Smith, and son, William Smith. She is survived by her son Robert E. Smith and Malou, and daughter Patricia Martin and Jim; three granddaughters Jacqueline (Nikki) and Bryan, Barbara Ann and John, and Amber and Reggie; and four great-grandchildren, Asher, Isabelle, Ashleigh and Hailey.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:30 - 4:30 pm pm on September 27th at Lake Seminole Square in Seminole, Florida.
