Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and son Kevin. He is survived by his sister Roberta; children Dennis and Lori; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vernon was born in South Dakota on October 3, 1934. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where Vernon would call home for the rest of his life. Upon joining the United States Marine Corps in 1953, Vernon served his country faithfully for nearly 4 years. After being honorably discharged from the Marines in 1956, he settled down in Omaha where he married and then had three children: Kevin, Dennis, and Lori.
Vernon was known by many titles throughout his life: Red, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. As a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, he exemplified love of country, respect for others, and a deep commitment to selflessly loving and serving his family. He cherished his family more than anything in the world and always stressed the importance of families sticking together, through thick and thin. There are countless memories shared by his family and friends that will forever be enshrined in our hearts and minds.
