July 21, 1955 – October 18, 2025
Early on the morning of Saturday, October 18th, 2025, Timothy Terrance “Tim” Kelliher completed his final mission, surrounded by loving family. Born on July 21, 1955, Tim lived a life defined by service, mentorship, and community.
A proud U.S. Army Green Beret and Ranger, Tim served his country with distinction before retiring from the Army after many years of honorable service. His leadership, intelligence, and integrity left a lasting mark on those who served alongside him.
Following his military career, Tim joined Pima Community College as a Lab Specialist and Adjunct Faculty in the Building and Construction Technologies (BCT) program at the Downtown Campus, beginning around 1990. Over the course of his decades at Pima, Tim taught and mentored thousands of students, sharing his deep knowledge, craftsmanship, and love of building. He was also a strong advocate for veterans’ success, helping many service members transition into rewarding civilian careers.
Even after retirement, Tim continued to give back, volunteering his time with BCT training programs at San Manuel and Canyon del Oro High Schools, where he inspired young builders and helped student teams reach state and national competitions.
Tim’s compassion extended far beyond the classroom. For many years, he was active in dog rescue and fostering, working with the Arizona Greyhound Rescue network and other local organizations to provide care and second chances to countless dogs in Tucson.
In later years, Tim and his wife Sandra shared a love of the outdoors, spending eight summers as camp hosts for the U.S. Forest Service at Lake Alva in Seeley Lake, Montana, where they welcomed visitors and maintained the campground with warmth and pride. He was lovingly embraced and welcomed into Sandra’s family, where his kindness and steady presence quickly made him a beloved part of their lives.
Above all, Tim was an amazing grandfather, affectionately known as “Grandpa Tim” and “PopPop.” It was as if he were born to be a grandfather. His love, patience, and humor shone brightest when he was with his grandchildren: Alyssa, Wyatt, Warren, and Huxley.
Tim is survived by his wife, Sandra; children Mike, Ben, and William, and their families; brother Chris and sister-in-law Judy (and family); and his first wife, Denise, who remained a dear friend throughout his life. Not even an ex-wife could dislike him; he was simply that kind of man. He was preceded in death by his brother Mike.
He will also be greatly missed by his extended “families” in the Army, at Pima Community College, and at San Manuel and CDO High Schools.
Tim’s life was one of quiet strength, loyalty, and generosity. His legacy endures in the countless students, friends, and family who were fortunate to know him and in every life he helped build along the way.
