May 25, 1931 - April 15, 2026
Jim is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Lorrie Griffey, son Ken Cobb (Jimi Sue), daughters Tami Jellsey, Lynnette (Paul) Fosco, sisters June Rush and Lois Heggen. Preceded in death by his parents, Jarvis and Ethel Cobb, brother Bob Cobb, sister Jean Cobb, daughter Karen Ingram, grandsons Micah Cobb and Clinton Jellsey.
Jim was born and raised in Atlantic City, NJ. Just after graduating from high school, Uncle Sam came calling, and Jim was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps. He quickly joined the Air Force instead. He was selected for many specialized training procedures and advanced to staff sergeant early in his service career. Jim was ultimately stationed at a base in Riverside, CA.
During his CA duty, Jim got married and had four children: Ken, Karen, Tami, and Lynnette. Jim was later divorced and was honorably discharged from the service.
He worked in the aerospace field, traveled to Florida with the NASA program and proudly had his name on a plaque on the moon. Jim was a senior research scientist for Lockheed Aircraft and a research development manager for Northrop Corp.
He retired from the aerospace field in the early 80s. Retirement did not suit him, so he got his CA real estate broker license and went to work for his broker-licensed wife, Lorrie, who owned her own real estate office. Not only did he participate in sales, he became active with the 10,000 real-estate-agent-strong San Fernando Board of Realtors in Van Nuys, CA. He was elected to the Board of Directors and was awarded the prestigious 1986 Realtor-Associate of the Year (out of 10,000 agents).
Jim's family grew from his four kids to 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Lorrie was mom to all; both he and Lorrie participated in as many family functions as possible. In 2007, Jim and Lorrie moved to La Vista, NE, to be near Lorrie's family. It was a major move leaving the Cobb clan.
Jim was successful at everything he touched - he was a gourmet cook, active volunteer at church, competitive card player (he especially loved Bridge), and had a strong love of life, especially God and family.
