Jacqueline (Jaci) Kay McIntosh of La Vista, NE was born July 11, 1955 in Council Bluffs, IA, and passed away June 5, 2026 at the Josie Harper Hospice House, Omaha, NE after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 70.
Jaci was preceded in death by her father Freddie H. Long, mother Evelyn P. (Kellar) Long, sister Cheryl E. Long, and grandson Nathaniel Lee McIntosh.
Jaci is survived by her husband of 49 years, 10 months, & 12 days, Robert (Bob) L. McIntosh; son Jason L. McIntosh (and wife Valerie) of Houston, TX; three amazing, beautiful, smart, loving grandchildren, Norah, Fiona, and Declan; brother Freddie H. Long Jr. (and wife Delores), of Bloomington, MN; sister Peggy L. (Long) Mabbitt, of Council Bluffs, IA; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Being a wife, mother and grandmother was one of the greatest joys of Jaci’s life. Throughout her home, she displayed the Bible verse, “For this child I have prayed” (1 Sam. 1:27)- a reflection of the deep gratitude and love she felt for the family God gave her. She adored her three grandchildren and delighted in being an active part of their lives. She joined right in-getting down on the floor to play, inventing silly games, sharing laughter, and turning ordinary moments into treasured memories. She had a special gift for seeing the world through a child’s eyes.
Jaci graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1973. Jaci had a work ethic that started when she was 14. Jaci worked with her mom, grandmother, aunts, sister, and cousins at the Brandeis Department store loops until high school graduation. Jaci was then employed by Central National Insurance where she became their senior claims examiner. When Central National went into receivership, Jaci left them to go back to school to become a nurse, her dream job. Jaci graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked at the Boys Town Pediatrics clinics for several years. Jaci then joined with a newly developed Village Point Pediatrics where she eventually retired December 27, 2019. Jaci considered the Village Point Pediatrics doctors, nurses, and staff her family. Wherever Jaci worked she gained lifelong relationships that will live on forever!
Jaci was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution for several years, until her illness prevented her from committing as much time as she wanted. Jaci coordinated with the Mayors of Ralston, La Vista, Papillion, and Bellevue to prepare proclamations to proclaim the week of September 17 as constitution week each year to recognize the September 17, 1787 signing of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Her legacy lives on in the love she poured into her family and friends and the memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Jaci will be missed by her family, everyone she had contact with and people that were touched by her generosity.
