Frank Fuk Lam Fong, 75, of Dundee, Omaha, Nebraska, died peacefully at home of pancreatic cancer on September 2, 2025. He was born in Hong Kong to Tsohing Fong (Joe) and Sikwai Chiu (Fay). After graduating from Ramondi High School in Hong Kong, he attended college at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. There, he studied engineering and obtained his MBA degree while making many life-long friends.
Frank then moved to Omaha to work 30 years in a job he called his “straight-John job”, but he is most well-known in the Omaha community as an accomplished musician and as a Tai Chi Master. For more than 20 years, he was the bass guitarist for the award-winning band Rhythm Collective and the guitarist and vocalist for the band The New Humans. Frank studied Tai Chi with Master Albert Wong in Hong Kong and then brought his mastery of and passion for the art to Omaha, where, for 50 years, he taught classes to hundreds of students. His classes were held at numerous locations, but the favorite and constant spot was Saturday mornings in the Memorial Park Rose Garden. His students will recall his main teaching: 1 – (be) soft, 2 - (move) slow, and 3 – don't forget 1 and 2."
Frank had two previous marriages and then met and fell in love with Christina/Tina Bloomquist-Korth in 2009 at the Om Center while teaching a Tao Yoga Class. “Wanna come and hear my band play?” was the line that changed the course of his retirement. They both loved music and started their melodious family with the arrival of Gregory and Samuel in their due time. Frank and Tina were married in 2016 in a Mayan wedding ceremony at the Maya Riviera and again in Nebraska in a private ceremony at their home that same year.
Everyone will remember Frank in his kindness, hard truth, wit, and charm. His memory will hopefully continue to flow into the hearts and minds of all those who loved him. He truly wishes for peace and love for all.
Frank was preceded in death by Tsohing Fong (father), Sikwai Chiu (mother), Motak Fong (aunt), and is survived by his family, Christina Fong (spouse), Gregory Fong (son), and Samuel Fong (son), Siuping “Spring” Fong (sister,) and Freddy Fookyiu Fong (brother).
