Sylvia Marie Albert

Sylvia Marie Albert, age 88, born 7/11/1936 in Saint Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada, died peacefully in her sleep in Oakland California, 1/17/2025 with her husband, Larry, at her side. This beloved wife of 53 years, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother is survived by her husband Lawrence, son Christopher, daughter in law Stevie, Grandchildren Skyler, Quinn, Krystal, Matthew, Great Grandchildren Amaris, Joe, Max, Ollie, Myles, Able, Sister Sally, Nancy, and brother John (deceased siblings Gary, Joseph, and Herman, deceased daughter Cynthia).

She was a seamstress, homemaker, caretaker, matriarch, unique and vibrant queen mother to everyone who knew her. She deeply protected and cared for her family, extended family, friends, and friends of family. Sylvia loved putting on records and dancing. Her lovely singing of songs when Larry would play guitar, or when giving directions and anecdotes, filled those around her with happiness and laughs. She loved caring for children, and showered them with love always with an unlimited supply of snacks for the neighborhood. People knew inside her small statue was a giant, not to be messed with! She was a beautiful woman with an infectious smile, showering her love and light to all those in her extended community. She had a volcanic flow of the most unconditional love imaginable emitting from her aura.

Family and friends are remembering all the times at her home and how wonderful she was. They have said there will always be good memories for them. She was a lot of fun! She was our biggest champion and role model for unconditional love, and a light for all in darkness. We are blessed to have such a loving, unique and vibrant queen mother. She was always so sweet, and it was always something special when she would attend her son’s shows with her husband and tell everybody that she loved them with a beautiful smile on her face!

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 25th, 2025, at 11:30am at Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland, ME 04106 followed by a Celebration of Life at Best Western Merry Manor Inn event room, 700 Main Street South Portland, ME 04106.
