Rosalie was born on October 13, 1958, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Donald Eugene Hicks and Marjorie Aileen Hicks (née Benn). She was the youngest of seven children and grew up surrounded by a large, loving family.
Throughout her life, Rosalie embraced new experiences and adventures. While married to Donald Higby during his military service, she had the opportunity to travel to many countries and lived in both Spain and the Philippines. She later made her home in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Kingman, Arizona, with her husband, Malcolm "Mac" Weatherhead, before she spent her final five years in California.
Rosalie dedicated her career to caring for others, spending many years assisting elderly and disabled individuals with compassion, patience, and kindness. She found joy in helping those in need and touched countless lives through her generosity and gentle spirit.
She had a deep love of nature, believed in the magic of fairies, and treasured every moment spent with her family. Nothing brought her greater happiness than being with her loved ones, especially her beloved granddaughter, Francesca Cabeytu.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Eugene Hicks and Marjorie Aileen Hicks.
She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Mikki Beard, Sue Nolan, Kathy Kennedy, and Mary Brooks; her brothers, Donald Hicks Jr. and Rick Hicks; her children, Kevin Stoner (Rebecca), Genevieve Higby (Victor Cabeytu), and Miranda Althide (Rich); eight cherished grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Rosalie's kindness, warmth, and caring heart will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life will take place at the Marina Community Center in San Leandro on July 11 from 2:30-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rosalie's honor to 100K Trees for Humanity. A link for donation is below.
