

Born on July 11, 1954, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Robert lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his profession, and the pursuits he loved most.
Robert Pickel was the son of the late Robert Pickel Sr. and Charlotte Lawrence Pickel. Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn Bok, sister Robin Pickel; brother David Pickel; his daughters Amanda Tellez and Elizabeth Frey; his son-in-law David Frey; his stepson Brian Bok; and six cherished grandchildren; who brought him immense joy and pride.
A well-known professional in the railroad industry, Robert, devoted more than 40 years of his career to the transportation industry. He earned a Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Transportation and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Penn State University. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his expertise, leadership, and commitment to advancing the industry he served.
Outside of his professional life, Robert was an avid animal lover who opened his heart and home to several foster dogs over the years. He believed strongly in the importance of physical fitness and embraced an active lifestyle throughout his life. Whether running, surfing, or skiing, he found joy, challenge, and fulfillment in staying active and spending time outdoors. His enthusiasm for these pursuits inspired those around him and reflected his determination, energy, and appreciation for life.
Robert will be remembered for his perseverance, wisdom, humor, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, the family he loved deeply, and the example he set through a life of purpose, resilience, and compassion.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
