She was born in San Mateo, California to John and Joyce Coulter. She attended Sequoia High School, Armstrong College and Antioch College (Philadelphia). Karen worked at several non profits including UNICEF and Committee of 70 in Philadelphia before moving to Johnson and Johnson companies. She retired in Alameda from Abbott Diabetes Care Company.
She was a terrific and loving mother for her children and, subsequently, a long line of rescued dogs. The family wishes to thank the terrific caregivers at Elders Ashram in Oakland for providing love and support in the last years of her life. Donations in her memory can be made to Muttville.
