June Iwasaki Leong

Born on September 18, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, to the late Mary Misako and Toyoji Iwasaki. She attended California State University and graduated from UC Berkeley. June worked as a real estate agent in Oakland and the surrounding areas.

Outside of work, she was a fierce tennis player and enjoyed other sports. June was known for her strong political convictions and always cared for the underprivileged. Whether abroad or domestically, June and Ron enjoyed traveling together. During her 60s, she developed Parkinson's but she never complained or felt sorry for herself. June was even doing her exercises in recent months although her mobility was so limited and she had to use a walker and wheelchair for long distances. June was so generous to family and others. Humor was so part of June and she would easily laugh even when facing unknown situations or when necessary Plan B, as she called it, had not been planned yet.

June is survived by her sister, Bonnie Iwasaki-Murphy, and husband Patrick, and sister-in-law, Vicki Iwasaki. Her nieces are Christy Leach and husband Tony, Cathy Alcaraz and husband Roman, and Mariko Mote and husband Matt, also her nephew Sammy Iwasaki and wife Sidny. Her great nieces are Victoria, Isabella, Anna, Jasmine, Samantha, Kathy and Mika. Her great nephews are Roman III, Sebastian, Joey, Erick and Jax. There is also her dear friend Teao Thompson and his family, and all her other friends.

She was preceded in death by Ronald Leong for over 47 years as boyfriend and later husband. Others that preceded her death are Sam Iwasaki, brother, Mariko Iwasaki, sister (age 8), and her beloved cat and companion, Rascal.

A gravesite burial will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 AM in La Mirada, California (Southern California) at Olive Lawn Cemetery. Celebration of Life Luncheon will follow at a different location. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in June's memory. June leaves us with all of our abundant love for her.
