Peggy was born on May 27, 1949 in San Francisco to Jane Wray Phelan Jett and Lowell Froman Jett, and spent her childhood growing up in Mill Valley, graduating from Tamalpais High School in 1967. She was an avid tennis player at Boyle Park, horseback rider, voracious reader, adored cooking, and was a huge animal lover from a very young age. Mountain biking and hiking on Tam were two of her favorite things. She picked up skiing and fell in love with practicing yoga as an adult.
She left Mill Valley for Tempe and got her business degree from Arizona State University in 1971. At ASU she joined Pi Beta Phi and remained an active alumni her entire life. She spent most of her professional life as a computer programmer for St. Luke’s Hospital. After retiring she volunteered for many years as an election poll worker.
Dogs were always a huge part of her life; Kacy, Koko, Chas, Stranger, and Spotty. Her sweet Karma was by her side at the end.
She’s survived by her son Jeffrey Stern, brother Jim Jett, and many nieces and nephews. She had an infectious spirit, her smile lit up rooms, her genuine kindness left a mark on everyone she met, and we will miss her dearly — love you always and forever.
A celebration of life will be held on November 16th in Mill Valley. Email [email protected] for more details. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Best Friends Animal Society, Marin Humane or Guide Dogs For The Blind.
