Bill grew up in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford area and graduated in 1963 from L.D. Bell High School. He was on the 1962 first district champion football team and an avid boxer participating in the Texas Golden Gloves. His love for football and boxing transcended into coaching youth league teams in both sports. He loved watching every Texas Christian University, Dallas Cowboys, and Green Bay Packers game he could, to present day. Bill collected every Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine and would anxiously wait for the next year to be published. His love for football was also accompanied by his excitement for horse racing with family and close friends. As all this was a passion for Bill, he did not go a day without it starting by reading his Bible every morning.
As Bill grew up and graduated high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and attended Texas Wesleyan and Midwestern State University. He had a successful career of sales in the floor covering industry and as a great salesman, Vice President and consultant. Many close industry friends’ successes and appreciation are in collaboration with his efforts, passion, hard work and friendship.
Bill’s humble and humanitarian personality would be defined as a person that would give the clothes off his back to offering the food on his plate so a person would not be without. As family and friends celebrate and rejoice the life of Bill, they are constantly reminded by his jovial personality, his smile, laughter, and the ability to make a new friend anywhere. From a “Hey Bud” to “Hey Sugar”, Bill would make you smile and feel the love by him.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, sister and a brother.
Survivors: His two sons, Jerimey Dent and Meredith with their son Brayden and Cory Dent and his wife, Marykate with their daughters, Baylee and Mackenzie, all of North Richland Hills. Bill absolutely loved and adored his three grandchildren. He would light up and exhilarate to the thought and mention of them. They love their Papa! He was also survived by his brother, Walter “Bubba” Dent and Carolee of Albuquerque, NM and Margaret “Sis” Burke of Fayetteville, NC as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life and service at Shady Oaks Baptist Church located at 1336 Cavender Dr., Hurst, Texas 76053 on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 am.
