Wayne Allen Swasey was seventy-three years old when he passed away in Fort Worth, Texas on Friday, March 31, 2017. He was born in South Portland, Maine on November 11, 1943 to Harry and Catherine Swasey. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Ellen Swasey, his children: Jeff and Christine (who he was so proud of), his daughter-in-law Danette, and his grandchildren: Lauren Evans and her husband Taylor, Deborah, Zakary, and Maxx.
In addition to being extremely proud of his family, he was also very proud of his service to his country. He loved his country, and he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He voluntarily enlisted and to served as a combat engineer from September 12, 1961 to July 20, 1965. Wayne was a man of bravery and courage.
Wayne was also an extremely hard-working man. He spent most of his life working as an independent contractor in the grocery industry in order to provide and care for his family. He taught and passed this trade on to his son, Jeff.
Wayne will be dearly missed by many co-workers and life-long friends, but especially by his back door receivers’ girls, whom he often kept entertained. When Wayne was done working, his favorite thing to do was to relax on his patio with his girl while enjoying a cold one and admiring his flowers and yard, which he worked tirelessly to perfect. We will miss hearing his voice, watching him love and dote on his grandchildren, and care for his wife. He is in God’s hands and out of pain now and is celebrating with all those who went before him. Rest in peace, and we will see you soon, Papa!
Ellen has requested that donations be made to the National Lung Association in Wayne's honor in lieu of purchasing flowers for the service. We will pay our respects at a military service to be held on Wednesday, 04/19/2017 at 2:00 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
Arrangements under the direction of NEPTUNE SOCIETY - Fort Worth, Fort Worth, TX.
