Virginia Sue Wanker of Grand Prairie, TX passed away peacefully at home, Monday, February 13, 2023 at the age of 78. She was born August 28, 1944 in Cooper, TX to the late Horace B. Cooper and Pearline Hart Cooper. Sue was an entrepreneur, and business woman, owning and/or managing multiple beauty salons and hotels throughout her career. Often times she would employ friends or family in need of a new opportunity or a second chance. Later in her career, Sue became a successful realtor, which was something she really enjoyed. It allowed her the flexibility to raise a family and care for her elderly mother. She and her husband welcomed friends and family into their home with open arms and open hearts. Their grandchildren affectionately referred to them as Mama Sue and Daddy Frank, and over time, all of the neighborhood friends and extended family would refer to them as Mama Sue and Daddy Frank as well. Living on Harper Ct. for more than 40 years, their home was a place to gather for holidays, pool parties, and countless celebrations.
In her earlier years, Sue became an award winning skeet shooter in both women and co-ed competition. Before her health began to decline, Sue enjoyed creating stained glass artwork which would be given to family and friends. More recently, she loved having bible study with her friends and attending church when she was able. More than anything, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart.
Sue is survived by her children: Sons, Mitchell Shane Wanker, and Jeffrey Lee Wanker; Daughter, Jennica LeeAnne McEvers; Grandchildren, Amanda, Brook, Emilee, Morgan, Barrett, Kaylee, Kinsley, Harlowe, Finnick, and Lochlan; her five great-grandchildren; and cousin Shirley Spencer.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband Frank E. Wanker, granddaughter Jamie Beran, her parents and her five siblings.
A memorial service to honor Sue will be held Thursday, March 2nd at Marshal Drive Baptist Church, 717 E Marshal Dr., Grand Prairie, Texas at 11 AM, officiated by Pastor Todd.
