She was born on September 20, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Adolf and Ana Maria Flores, and grew up on the northside of Fort Worth attending Catholic school all her life. At the age of 18, she got married and later was blessed with three children - Ernie, Robert, and Dianna.
Virginia had a passion for life, and her hobbies included reading, cooking, sewing, writing, music, traveling, and helping others, especially the elderly. Her marriage to her second husband Jerry in 1984 led her to Granbury, and together, they traveled the world.
Virginia retired from UNTHSC in 1997 but continued volunteering in nursing homes, attending Bible studies, and caring for her aging parents.
Her unwavering faith in God, her love for her family, and her selfless nature shone through her entire life. Virginia was a beacon of light, and she always welcomed everyone with open arms.
She now joins her parents, her sister Annie, her brother Arthur, and her best cousin Mary Lou, among other loved ones in heaven.
Virginia is survived by her husband Jerry, her children Ernie, Robert (Jessica), and Dianna (Ferny), grandchildren Leila and Raymond Herrera, Alexis and Marissa Espinoza, sister Mary Helen Flores, brother Carlos Flores, Jerry's loving family, Lisa (Jack), Brad, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to the personal nurses who took care of her, the staff at Discovery Village, and Enhabit Hospice for all their love and care.
Fly high, Mama! We celebrate your life and legacy, and we know that we will see you again soon!
