Thomas "Tom" Deverle Stanford, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on January 13th, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marjorie "Marge" (Clark) Stanford, his daughter, Brenda Kay (Stanford) Mitchell, his son David Glenn Stanford and his wife Maria. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anabel (Gilmore) Stanford, his father Paul Dewey Stanford, his siblings Zeta Stewart, Durwood Stanford and Dewayne Stanford, his eldest son Steven Dewayne Stanford and son-in-law, Tommy David Mitchell.
Tom was born July 20th, 1931 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. After his family relocated to Abilene, Tom joined the Army National Guard of Texas at age 19 and honorably served from 1950-1956. He attained the rank of Sergeant, specializing in Field Artillery Operations and Intelligence, and earned the Sharpshooter Marksmanship badge. It was in Abilene, that he met Marge. They were married in 1954 and eventually moved to nearby Breckenridge. Tom was a member of the Breckenridge Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and a valued member in the community.
