Thomas Woodrow Southerland of Aurora, TX passed away on March 18, 2025, in his home at the age of 82. He was born on July 28, 1942, and grew up in Kenefic, Oklahoma. He was raised by his grandparents.
Tom went to Castleberry High School in Fort Worth, TX. He worked as a mechanic and had a 25 + year career as long-haul truck driver and then went to local routes until his retirement.
Tom and Jane met in Lufkin, TX and were married a few months later, in Hemphill, TX on November 21, 1979, and would have celebrated their 45th anniversary.
Tom spent a lot of spare time at swap meets, fixing up antique vehicles and muscle cars, and taking the buggies to the sand dunes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Thomas and Mary Jane Southerland and grandson, Jonathan Marshall.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Louise Southerland; daughter, Connie Jo Kennedy and husband Harold; son, Vance Thomas Burton (Junior); grandchildren, Aaron, Bethany, Chad and wife Kim, Devin and wife Danielle, Sierra, Thomas, Shane, and Kaitlin; great grandchildren, Xochial, Maddie, Jonathan, Dom, Jax, Harmony, Avery, Laylah, Trenton, Lane, Kaitlyn, Eric, Nathan, Seth, Shawn, and Robyn Jo.
The family would like to thank Angel Care Hospice and their staff for the care and compassion they showed Tom during his time of need.
