Thomas John Peterson was born on November 10, 1942 and was the first of 5 children to Byron and Catherine Peterson of Racine, Wisconsin. Tom spent his childhood and young adult years there until 1966, when he moved to Euless, Texas to pursue an employment opportunity. He found a job working as a salesman for Curtis 1000, a position he kept for 25 years before having to medically retire in 1981. Though retired, he continued to find ways to keep himself busy, including working for the Texas Star Golf Course.
Tom participated in many Christian ministries over the years at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in North Richland Hills. Also being a firm believer in civic duty, he attended the North Richland Hills Citizens Police Academy, was a member of the Citizens Police Review Board, and was an instrumental part in establishing the first ever neighborhood watch group in the state of Texas.
More importantly, Tom was a loving, caring, and kind-hearted man to everyone he met. You could say Tom did not know a stranger and he always greeted everyone with a warm, cordial smile. He was sincerely interested in listening to each person he encountered, a legacy he passed on to his sons; Brian, Scott, and Kevin, whom he shared with his first wife, Mona Peterson. Tom always stayed in contact with each of them, sharing his fatherly wisdom and his continued support in all their endeavors. He remained happily settled in the H.E.B. area with his second wife, Susie, for more than 15 years.
Tom is survived by his wife, Susie, his sons, Brian Peterson, Scott (Corrie) Peterson, and Kevin (Shanna) Peterson. His stepson, Victor Castle III, and a stepdaughter, Maria (Terry) Cramer. His grandchildren, Zachary Shoff, Daniel Peterson, Kynleigh Peterson, and Brendon Smith, along with step-grandchildren Matthew Reddy, Jackson Savage, and Dalton and Ryan Castle. His siblings, Jim (Jane) Peterson of Tucson, AZ, Jane (Ron) Hitzelberger, Mary (Jim) Nielsen, both of Racine, WI and one niece Katelyn (Glenn) Smith of Cudahy, WI. He is preceded in death by his parents Byron and Catherine Peterson and his brother Jon Peterson.
