Tom was born January 18, 1940, in a farmhouse 8 ½ miles north of Paducah, Texas, in the community of Dunlap. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at age eleven. Tom graduated from Paducah High School in 1958.
Tom served in the U.S. Army between 1959-1962; first in the 3rd Infantry Division, Rock of the Marne, and then in the 49th Armored Division during the Berlin Crisis in 1961. He played one year of Army football in Bamburg, Germany.
He spent thirty-eight years involved in the food industry, selling seasoning, other food ingredients, and equipment to food processors. Tom served twice as President of the Supplies Association of the Southwest Meat Association and was a member of the Institute of Food Technologists. He and his family owned a BBQ restaurant, The Rib Tickler of Grapevine, for a short period of time.
Tom was ordained as a deacon at Glendale Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri, in 1971. He was presently a member of First Baptist Church in Euless, Texas.
Tom is survived by his wife, Joy, and six children: Julie Goodgame Moore, Teri Goodgame Beach and husband Sid, Lynda Baldwin Lively and husband Larry, Jan Baldwin Hubble and husband Richard, Brenda Baldwin Davis and husband Richard, Brad Baldwin and wife Tammy, twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Tom’s favorite scripture is Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
A Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, October 12, 2017, 6:30pm, at First Baptist Church, Euless.
Tom’s ashes will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas, on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Campus Crusade for Christ or the American Cancer Society.
